First Edition. London: Mess. Boydell & Co., London, Cheapside, [1803]. Large 4to (12.75 x 16.75 inches) engraved title-page, frontispiece and 92 plates of the original hundred. Condition a little dust-soiled, some occasional foxing, mainly to first and last few leaves, otherwise clean and bright, 19th century morocco, gilt, "Boydell's Illustrations to Shakespeare" in gilt on upper board, all edges gilt.
A really very good copy indeed of these Shakespeare illustrations by or after the leading artists of the time like Henry Fuseli, George Romney, Robert Smirke, John Opie, J. Boydell, R.Thew, F. Wheatley, J. Northcote, B. West, L. Schiavonetti, F. Bartolozzi, J. Hoppner, R. Westhall, M. Brown and others,  also included in this copy is the hard to find second plate for Romeo and Juliet  by William Blake which is in exceptionally clean condition.
